New Roller Blinds protecting history

I recently fitted 4 very large Blackout Roller Blinds in the library at Torquay Museum. The windows were covered by a mixture of old curtains and boards against the windows. They wanted to brighten up the look of the room, whilst protecting the old books from damage from sunlight.

This was done with 4 Rollers in Banlight fabric, which is available in many colours. If you need to blackout a room or just want a quote or some advice on any Blinds, give me a call or fill out the form on this website and I will get back to you.

How many sets of blinds can fit into one room?

I was recently given the job of covering all the windows in a new conservatory.
However, to meet the customer’s needs, a number of Blind types were used. Firstly the customer wanted a Pleated Blind fabric for all windows. I started by fitting 11 Pleated Roof Blinds, in various shapes. Next Perfect Fit Pleated Blinds were fitted, to the 2 doors, so they wouldn’t blow around when the doors are open.

The side windows were then fitted with 10 free hanging Pleated Blinds, with one having an Intu Pleated Blind, as it was too narrow for anything else. As can be seen from the pictures, it all blends in nicely and the customer was extremely happy with the result.

Damaged Blinds! Soon sorted.

I recently fitted a whole house, in Torquay, with 50mm Wooden Venetian Blinds. The customer was very happy, but I noticed one of the Blinds had some damaged slats!

No big problem. By the time I pointed it out to the customer, I had already been onto the manufacturer and arranged for a remake ASAP. It would be nice if all Blinds arrived in perfect condition, but sometimes they don’t. Fortunately I pride myself on being able to sort out such problems as quickly and efficiently as possible, causing as little inconvenience to the customer as I can. Van forces unscheduled day off

They say things come in threes. Hopefully it’s true as my van suffered 3 set backs recently, so don’t want any more. Firstly, it ground to a halt in the middle of a local street, see picture. Everything shut down & warning lights were flashing everywhere. I feared the worse, but fortunately it turned out to be a flywheel connecting a rubber band from the clutch to the alternator and was fixed without too big a bill. Next, on our first really cold morning, it decided it didn’t want to go out in the cold & was dead as a doornail. Anyway, thanks to the RAC, a tired old battery was not only diagnosed, but also replaced within the hour. Many thanks to RAC. Lastly, and hopefully, finally for now, my two front tyres had to be replaced, as the recent wet weather had emphasied the fact that limited tread is not a good thing. It cost me a days work, and a few pounds, but everything got re-organised and all caught up by the end of the week.
So, if you would like a quote, or just some advice on Blinds, give me a call or fill out the form on this page and I will get back to you.

Hard work rewarded with family golf

It’s been a very busy summer for Dave Musgrove Blinds and sometimes I need to just get away for a couple of days, to recharge the batteries. I had one of those mini breaks recently, when I went to visit my eldest son Matt, in Melksham…

After finishing at lunchtime on the Friday, I drove up there to make a 4pm tee time at Chippenham Golf Club. The journey took it’s toll as Matt was the victor on the course. I then took Matt & his fiancee out for dinner, at a lovely Italian restaurant in Melksham.

Saturday was just relaxing before heading home and preparing for another long week selling & fitting blinds.

Curved Vertical Blinds

Have you got a curved bay window and would like it shaded with just one Blind. Fear not!

As long as the curve is not too severe, then the solution is a Vertical Blind on a curved track. By replacing the internal aluminium tilt rod with a flexible nylon one, the Blind is fully operational. Some more severe curves can still be overcome by fitting 2 curved rails, butting in the middle.

Seagull-Proofing The Bay

Whilst fitting some blinds recently, I noticed the bird-table in the garden. I wasn’t sure what I was seeing, so asked the customer what it was all about…

Apparently he’d had a lot of problems trying to feed the smaller birds, due to seagulls raiding the table and eating all the food before the smaller birds could get a look in.

So, he set about seagull proofing the table and here is the result.
Not sure about the look, but apparently it does the job.

Wood Print 25mm Venetian Blinds

Do you want wood look Venetian Blinds, but don’t necessarily want real wood. Then 25mm wood print aluminium Venetian Blinds are an affordable alternative. In a variety of wood shades, these aluminium blinds are much lighter than real wood, the stack when raised is much smaller and they are easier to wipe clean.

Although real wood is classy and look great, in the right type of window, the 25mm aluminium Blinds are often more suitable and appropriate in modern houses. Whichever type you prefer, or for any other advice, or a quote, give me a call or fill out the form on this page and I will get back to you.

Free Blinds For The Warren Ladies Section

About 10 years ago I fitted 2 Vertical Blinds for the Ladies Section at Dawlish Warren Golf Club. They had 5 “(127mm) louvres, now quite rare, as most people go for the sleeker looking 3 1/2″ (89mm) louvres. Anyway, having fitted 3 new 3 1/2” Verticals in the new office, pro shop area just over a year ago, and with the ladies having a few problems which needed attention, I decided to donate 2 new Blinds to match the office ones.

The ladies captain was very pleased and I was pleased to be able to give something back to my Golf Club. If you would like some Vertical Blinds, unfortunately not Free I’m afraid, give me a call or fill out the form on this page and I will get back to you.

3 Point Turn In The Teign

I get some great views on my travels around South Devon, but recently I saw a first, for me, on the River Teign. From a customer’s house, in Shaldon, I was able to watch a cargo ship being led into Teignmouth, by the pilot, before being turned around, with the help of a tug, and docking backwards ready to leave again going forwards. I had been called to Shaldon to replace a Velux Roller Blind. However, although it wasn’t a genuine Velux product, I was able to dismantle it, repair and re-tension the spring before re-fitting the Blind.

The customer will replace this and one other non-Velux product in the future, but also purchased 2 new Roller Blinds while I was there. I always think providing a good service will reap it’s rewards. If you need some Blinds repaired or a price for some new ones, give me a call or fill out the form on this page and I will get back to you.
