Dave Musgrove Blinds to the rescue!

During the recent hot spell, 2 seagull chicks fell from next door’s roof.  After a couple of days of being dive bombed by the parents I went to investigate.  Unfortunately one of the chicks hadn’t survived, but one had.  It did however appear to have a damaged wing.

On calling the RSPCA I was advised to try and catch the chick and place in a box for collection, within 24 hours.  Not easy, with the constant dive bombing, with claws out, but I managed it, with the help of my partner and a golf umbrella.

The RSPCA duly collected the chick the following morning and after a couple of days the mother eventually went away.  As a Torbay resident, not a great fan of seagulls, but it’s hard to leave a young helpless chick to suffer and possibly be taken by a cat or other animal.

Whole house refurbishment

Recently a customer bought an older house and then proceeded to completely gut it and start from scratch.

The final touch was the fitting of Vertical Blinds at every window.  Blackout upstairs in the bedrooms and a patterned white everywhere else.

Their new home is now ready to move into.  If you would like a quote, or just some advice, then give me a ring, or fill out the form on this page for a call back.

Father’s Day present

I got a bit of a surprise this Father’s Day.

My sons, Matt & Nick got me a personalised registration for my, still, nearly new van.

The significance of the 59 is the year of my birth as well as being my age this year.  Thanks boys.

UK’s smallest city

On our recent holiday in South West Wales we visited the city of St Davids.  Apparently the smallest city in the UK, both by population and size.

By far the biggest building is the cathedral, a stunning building with the ruins of the Bishop’s palace next door.  Both being over 1500 years old!  Meanwhile if you would like a quote, or just some advice, then give me a ring or fill out the from on this page for a call back.

Night off at the Theatre

I recently went to the Princess Theatre, in Torquay, for an evening with Aggers & Tuffers.  That is ex England cricketers turned commentators Jonathan Agnew & Phil Tuffnell.  It was a very entertaining night with some very funny stories from their careers.  Phil Tuffnells description of how he played fast bowling was particularly amusing.  As he demonstrated, it basically saw him jumping around with arms and legs flailing, head turned away and bat wafting somewhere in the air.  He referred to it as “I then played my preferred shot to a fast bowler”.  I went alone, as it was a present from my partner.  Needless to say she is not a cricket fan!  Meanwhile if you would like a quote, or some advice, on Blinds fill out the form on this page and I will get back to you.

Can you combine different blinds?

Sometimes the same type of Blind doesn’t suite all windows in a property.

This customer, in Shaldon, wanted Wooden Venetian Blinds, but had 2 large patio door areas leading into the garden.  For these it was more practical to fit Vertical Blinds, as they are easier to operate when going through the doors.

Wooden Venetians of this size would have been very heavy are more difficult to operate on a regular basis.  However, they had the Wooden Venetians throughout the rest of the property and were very happy with the result.

Taped Wooden Venetian Blinds

Wooden Venetian Blinds are very popular these days and becoming more popular are the ones with ladder tapes.  These give the Blind a more classical look, as opposed to the ladder strings.  If you would like a quote for Wooden Venetians, or just some advice, then fill out the form on this page and I will get back to you.

Sad Loss Brought Back Good Memories

I was sad to here of the recent sudden passing of former Torquay United stalwart Ian Twitchen.  A wonderful servant to the club and one of the mainstays of the team my Dad managed in the mid seventies.  This is a picture of that team with my Dad bottom right and Ian Twitchen 2 to his right.

It brought back happy memories of Friday night victories in front of a regular crowd of 3500 to 4000 people.  Oh how they wish they could get crowds like that now.  Here’s hoping they can once again pull off the miracle of avoiding relegation.  Meanwhile if you would like a quote, or some advice on Blinds, filk out the form on this page and I will get back to you.

Over 40 Blinds in New Build

I recently fitted over 40 Blinds, of varying types, to a new build in Sandygate, Newton Abbot.  From Romans in the kitchen, to Wooden Venetians in the bedrooms, several Blackout Velux Rollers, a Waterproof Roller Blind in the wet room and finally Perfect Fit Pleated Blinds to ground floor windows, standard in the living rooms and blackout in  the bedrooms.  It was about 6 months from first contact to fitting, with the house being a shell without windows when I first visited.  It was great to see a property develop and be able to put the final touches that turned it into a home.

Perfect Fit with a Perfect View

It was a beautiful mid winters morning when I fitted these 13 Perfect Fit Pleated Blinds in Cockwood, near Dawlish.  As you can see stunning views back up the Exe towards Exeter.  Cheered up my customer as they had just returned from Australia, watching England lose the ashes.
